SHILOH: The Peace Fathers Provide

img

In a society where men-fathers-are little celebrated, Shiloh offers a solution.

Men are often categorized as breadwinners, providers, superheroes, and our protectors. In a world that typically only celebrates the surface qualities of a man, I would like to challenge you to dive deeper with me. Close your eyes and take a deep breath as you reflect on what your good father or positive father figure meant to you. How does this man show up in your memories? Can you smell his cologne on a Sunday morning on the way to church? Do you hear his voice in a crowd cheering you on? Can you remember the first time he shared raw emotions with you? These are the experiences we tend to gloss over when reflecting on a man’s positive imprint on our lives.

Shiloh presents the heartfelt expressions of women who have gained much from the father figures in their lives. Readers will be engrossed by the depth of connection afforded by the love shared on these pages. Your heart will be full of memories of your own as you journey through the recollections of these women.

And as you read, perhaps you will be inspired to write out some truths of your own for the men who deserve to experience your appreciation for their value in your life. And if you cry… just cry! Their good love deserves our raw tears, so get lost in your emotion as you feel your heart expand with the fullness that the peace of Shiloh provides.

Use this collection as a prompting to write and share letters of love to the men in your life who have been models of peace, presence, patience, safety, dedication, love, joy, and fatherhood.

Overall, we are grateful that God saw fit to bring the gift of good fathers into our lives. If we did not have their positive examples of fatherhood, we can’t begin to imagine the women we would have become or how our family lives would have been. We would be lost!

The presence of a good father is essential to the growth of women, so we appreciate being able to respect these fathers as men and as fathers. Because of them, we have much to look forward to.

As you read this book and share it with your fathers and role models, we certainly pray you take the opportunity to share writings of your own with the men who deserve to know they are loved and appreciated. They NEED to know! For all they have given us, this small token of thanks is just a wee blip in comparison. Take time to share your love with your Shiloh. Give them a gift they will never forget.

Our fathers aren’t the immortal superheroes we like to characterize them as. They are men who were once boys. They have experienced many of life’s trials and tribulations. These experiences are often the only reference they have before they are placed in the parental role. This is especially true for men who had no positive father figures participating in their own lives with love and consistency.

Although we lean on the strength of men quite frequently, in this book, you’ll find stories, recollections, and memories that highlight the soft and gentle side of men. These encounters have made such an impact that they must be immortalized by pen and paper. No matter the relation or the title given to him, there is a soul string attached to us in some way that comes from a good man.

Allow yourself to get wrapped up in every single word. Feel the emotions that we all can relate to as children who grew up with a male figure in their lives. Whether the male model is an uncle, a grandfather, a daddy, a father, a stepfather, or a male figure with close ties to your family, these men impact our lives with their presence. Equally, they affect us in times of their absence.
