My First Price List!!! | Sh'Shoots

Here is the first price list that I ever came up with.

I was very motivated to get this done. I had only just a few days prior sent out my request to have my website built. I can tell you now that this price list changed many many times over the course of time—over a period of what amounted to about 5 years. It also became less detailed over time—from all of these pages to a simple 1 pager (No back. Just front.).

There are prices on this list that I would never agreed to ever again within photography. Because of this price list, I learned the value of supply and demand. More important than that, I learned the value of being non-negotiable on rates while providing a level of service that far outweighed any dollar amount listed here.
As you’re able to take the time to peruse through this document as well as the other pricing documents so you can check out the fluctuations over time as well as the final documented sheet.
One thing that you can get out of it all is the knowledge that pricing—as well as everything else—is a process. My hope for you is that you can exclude all of the rigamaroo that my process included. My recommendation is to find your value and stick to it. Find something that fits you as well as the quality of your service.

Here is a preview of my first price list:

Don’t forget to scroll and pay attention! It’s FOUR (different) pages!!!! YIKES!!!! 😉

NOW! Before I EVER even sent this to Cameron, I sent it to some other friends of ours to check out for me first. These were both mutual friends of ours who happened to be Cameron’s best friends and business partners. This group of individuals turned out to be some of the BEST young entrepreneurs that I could’ve ran into while in Atlanta. Because of them, I am fortunate to have had exposure to things that I likely wouldn’t have found myself otherwise connected to.

Here was my email request to “Tinkerbelle” and LA (also a photog) before sending to Cameron:
Hi Guys!
Would you mind proofing this for me?
Fran, please do what you do best…make sure it’s perfect!
LA, please look at the pricing and structure for me and tell me if you think it’s a realistic start.  I want to be reasonably priced, but not shoot myself in the foot.  Photography may be my primary income in a minute, so….I need to make sure I get off to a good start and I’ll re-evaluate things as the month progresses.  Also, feel free to fine tune this template for your own endeavors.
If you guys have any questions, let me know.

FEEDBACK TIP:

Don’t hesitate to ask for help, yet don’t “require” people to walk out the processes that you yourself should be completing—that’s not their job. Do yours, and let them do theirs. Don’t burden people with “you” so by the time you actually need something from them, they’ll be more than happy to help! Okay? Don’t “need” the HECK out of people!

PRICING TIP:

The first rule that I came up with as far as pricing started with my photography pricing, and that rule was simply not to charge people a value that I wasn’t willing to provide. In photography, I can say that I definitely did my best to operate in accordance with that guideline. At the same time within photography, I  also sold myself short time and time again.  (And THAT is EXACTLY what I don’t EVER want YOU to do!!! Mmmkay???)

Good luck! Ask your questions below!
