MySpace returns with a vengeance

I remember when I first read Justin Timberlake purchased MySpace and planned to turn it into a music media haven. Everyone scoffed or laughed at me as I revealed the information. “MySpace?!! Never!!”, they said. The could not fathom a return to the failing network. Knowing Justin’s business sense, I opened a new account and patiently waited for the announcement. Two years later, almost to the date, Justin tweets he’s ready to release it to the masses.

Today I signed in to see if the hype was worth it. I believe it’s all that and a bag of beignets (a New Orleanian thing). I believe MySpace has the potential to become a viable contender in the Social Media world. It was Facebook’s presence that killed MySpace originally, now the irony is it’s now in a position to return the favor.

Upon first log in, it introduces itself as the new MySpace and then begins to walk you through its changes. You have an option to keep your photos and music from the old MySpace. It’s interface is clean and very user-friendly. You still can post pictures, videos, and more, but they have removed the use of HTML. Its new interface seems to take some ideas from Pinterest. The infamous Top 8 still remains. The network still has a heavy presence in music for listening and sharing purposes.
